Who are you and what do you do?
Founded by Shianne Winston, The New Black Era is a non-profit organization with a mission to Cultivate a Culture of Black Excellence. The New Black Era seeks to provide a foundational platform that promotes black excellence, advocates on behalf of the black community and switches the narrative of what it means to be BLACK IN AMERICA.
Our overall goal is to BUILD
How?
By reconnecting the village.
By creating new rules of millennial political engagement.
By changing the face of what it means to be Black in America.
By advocating for our community.
By pushing a NEW NARRATIVE.
By showcasing our talents.
By using our stories as art.
By mentoring our youth.
and by taking accountability for our actions.
The New Black Era is not a trending topic. This is an organization to JOIN: attend events, register for programs, volunteer and most importantly promote your excellence. There will always be room for YOU at The New Black Era.
What makes The New Black Era different?
1. We’ve set a goal to be infectious- we are formulating a Blueprint of how you can use your gifts to get active in your community. We want the The New Black Era to be an example of how you can use your interest and talents to build within your community.
2. We will re-spark the energy in our community – by curating interactive campaigns and events that include you - we are not here to put on a show. We strive to build a community of individuals and families who are engaged and eager to produce generational abundance.
3. We will build a more socially aware community- The New Black Era’s initiatives intend to shine a light on issues that plague our community: lack of education, benefits of art, entrepreneurship, communal support, and social awareness. We want to mobilize through information, opportunity, and accessibility.
These are just the basics. There's more. And we want you to be involved. (more below)
Every New Black Era project or event offers the opportunity for collaboration. Are you a photographer and want to use your eye to narrate the black community through the African American lens? Are you a PR whose contacts will be interested in progressive black platforms? Are you an advocate who is willing to share your insight? Are you an artist who wants to use your gifts to tell your story? Are you an educator who wants to expose your students to social advocacy? Are you a socialite whose peers would be interested in our platform? There's no limit, whatever it is you do, we are interested and we want to collab! Email us @ letsbuild@thenewblackera.org
